The Real Housewives Of New York City: Interview With Jill Zarin
April 26, 2009 09:00:21 by Britteny Elrick

The Real Housewives of New York City star Jill Zarin talked with Life & Style about her recent breast reduction. According to Jill, she had surgery to bring her chest size from a 32G to a 32DD. Keep reading for the rest of the interview…
Jill told Life & Style,“There is no reason anyone should have to suffer from low self-esteem or poor body image. We have the power to change our bodies in a safe and positive way.”
When asked why she made the decision to finally go through with it, she responded, “This was not a decision that happened overnight, that’s for sure. Time and gravity had taken their toll, and I developed health problems, which limited my physical activity over the years. Although they were fabulous assets until my mid-30s, they became a problem as time went on.”
Was it hard for her to talk about it? Jill said, “I wanted to go public with my story to show women there is no shame in wanting to look and feel your best as long as it’s done safely. I want to put an end to the rumor that a breast reduction and lift has to be a painful and long procedure. ”
She continues, “I’m still a 34DD and full, so most of my clothing seems to fit — but better. I still have to get the sports bra off, so I won’t really know what to do with them, so to speak, until May 1. I have some new Le Mystère bras waiting for me and can’t wait to go shopping for more. They never made pretty bras for women my size before.”
Lastly, she talks about the support of her family and friends, ”I could not have done it without my husband, Bobby, and my daughter, Allyson. Bobby took me to the hospital with my parents, Gloria and Sol. My parents stayed until the surgery was over and deemed a success. Bobby stayed with me every second. I’m planning Mother’s Day for Gloria now, and I think a Kodak digital frame will let me show all my photos with the new boobs.”

Hey Jill, i am so glad you have decided to help the public know about the fear of getting a breast reduction. I am 26 and have been thinking about getting it done now since i was 18. I am a 38H…good grief…i have to have clothes altered i.e. fitted jackets or nice dresses. I’m almost 5′8″ and everyone tells me my chest makes me look bigger than what I am. I hate not being able to shop in the nice trendy stores all my friends do and lol i hate having to order bras and then pay an high price for them since i need more fabric. If you don’t mind me asking i have 3 friends who did it…but sadly in the past several years they have gained weight and their boobs have went back to the same size. Did you doctor say this could be a result if you gain weight? My main concern from my regular doctor is she thinks I would scar up really bad due to past injuries and surgeries I have had so that is a little scary. I will say you look great, and you did before as well. I would like to lose some weight first and then try and have it done then I will be alot more happier. Thanks for being my favorite housewife of NY~ Team Jill all the way~

Jill - You are the realest person on the show, and surrounded by many fake, two faced people, staying true to yourself is important.

You are my favorite of all. You have class without trying so hard and you are down to earth. You probably wont read this but all your fans will. Ramona is a hot mess that lacks class. She looks like she is shock from her plastic surgery. LuAnn tries to act like she has so much class. That other girl that I call “scratch and dent model” is past her prime. LET IT GO.. Bethany is great, I just hope she doesn’t miss out on being a mom and starting a family. She reminds me of my soon to be ex husband. Business business business.. people like that spend their entire life chasing happiness b/c they cant balance. There is nothing wrong with being ambitious but you have to have balance. The other 2 clowns from Europe or wherever they are from need a reality check. The husband is gay and wifey is in denial. Wishing you good luck and continued success. Gabriela

Hi Jill: You look amazing and you are my favorite Housewife! I had a breast reduction almost 9 years ago, and felt immediate relief after the surgery, it was the best thing I’ve ever done. My husband wasn’t really up for me doing it (he’s a boob man) and it took a few years of convincing him. His thought was that they were half his
and he liked his half just the way they were. My contention was that if they were half his, I would have his half put in a jar that he could keep by his bedside!! Luckily it never came to that and I love my C cups better then ever-and he does too, Anne

You look amazing Jill!
I thought I was the only 32G in the US. It was great when I was 21 not so great at 37. I have been planning my breast reduction and lift for the last year. Once my weight stabilizes I’ll finally be able to have the surgery and hopefully I’ll be a D as well.
Best wishes to you and your family!

Jill-
You look amazing and I am so happy you feel better about yourself. Personally I never noticed the boobs because your infectious personality and endless energy was a 34Z! Go team Jill!
