Last week, it was reported that Kelly Bensimon is the only reality star who has signed up for next season’s Real Housewives of New York. The rest are reportedly holding out for six-figure deals.

Asked about the salary demands, Zarin told Usmagazine.com: “I think that in an ensemble cast, it’s hard to have demands because I think all women are the same. I think all women should be treated identically. I don’t think one is more valuable than other.”

NOTE FROM JILL: I WAS NOT TALKING SPECIFICALLY ABOUT OUR SHOW OR OUR NEGOTIATIONS. THIS WAS TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT

“I’m not saying someone new on the show would be valued the same as someone who’s been on the show three years,” she said - presumably referring to newcomer Bensimon - at a launch party for the Wendy Williams Show Monday in NYC. “But I think that the cast is the cast. Take an ensemble like Friends. They felt the same way about each other, even though some became more famous than others and some were more liked. They all took care of each other, and I think that’s the way it should be.”

Asked if she’s coming back, Zarin told Us, “You’ll have to watch and see what happens. I can’t announce anything.”

Bravo has confirmed it is “casting for additional housewives” for next season amid reports about the salary dispute.

But Zarin told Us she has “no idea” about casting. If someone’s been hired, “I definitely don’t know who she is,” she said.

Given the recent table-flipping drama on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, how will editors spice things up next season?

Said Zarin: “It’s not up to them to amp it up, it’s up to us — if I’m back. It’s up to us to just live our lives the way it is. The editors do a really good job of editing it.”

I just read that article from US Magazine. Your not working actors unless your shows are scripted and presented as being “faux real” Also these days when actors are taking pay cuts just to keeping working asking for six figues ( if that’s the case) is ridiculous.

With expensive homes in Manhattan and the Hampton’s a figure that high is bordering on GREED, Those actors on FRIENDS were WORKING, acting is there JOB, If all this is too hard to do. If you feel this is too much like a JOB and you wont do it without cash “six figures to be exact”, It’s time to move on. or maybe curtail your spending. Are all your little business ventures not working out all that well?

I love the show but none of you are worth that much.

I will be surprised if you post this it does not coincide with the usual Zarin Love fest.

  3. Cody R Says:

Jill, I heard a rumor that Zarin Fabrics (the building) is up for rent. Is that true? If so why are you and Bobby giving up your business.

  4. Chicago Says:

I loved looking at those apartment views. Thanks for posting the photos.

The bright colors that you and Ally prefer are really nice. What do you do with all of the clothes that you buy? Do people in NYC wear outfits more than onc?

Jill I am so excited about Bethenny getting her own show! I know you must be so happy for her. She is so lucky to have such a best friend like you. You must be so proud of her how her career has just blossomed, with a number one book and a new man! She is the first of the group to hit it big! Maybe you will be the next one!

So happy for you ladies. You all deserve it! Has Bethenny asked you to be a guest on her show? It’s like a modern day Lucy and Ethel, but this time the red head is Ethel. Love you both! Team Bethenny and Jill 4ever!

  6. lauren Says:

will you make guest appearances on bethenny’s new show since you went on other shows like kathy griffin’s?
(i thought it should be you that gets her own show, that would be entertainment)

  7. Crystal Says:

You know, celebrities deserve pay raises just like average working people. These ladies have opened up their lives for all the world to see. Absolutley, the glitz & glamour are amazing perks. However, just imagine having a film crew invade your house, family and privacy day after day. Upon appearing on national television, you have forever exposed your once private world. It cannot be easy what these ladies & their families experience while participating in this reality show. Yes, they agreed & signed on for the show, knowing what was involved. However, just like us working class citizens, they too deserve pay raises. And I hope they get it, so that we can continue to enjoy the show with all of the original cast!

Jill ~ I sent you an email sharing that you pitch BROVO for your own show w/Bethenny, I guess “B” reads her fan mail because I just was informed of the GREAT news of “B’s” new show ~ I hope you are happy for her & send out a formal statement, I hope that BROVO also give you a show you need 2 get away from Kelly and Ramona & Mario all the others are going to bring you down ~ Jill you are the only one with any class ~ Thanks and show your class and wish “B” all the best!

  9. Hill Says:

Seriously? This is disappointing, regardless of how much the group is asking for.. And having Kelly on the show was a plus, there was drama that raised ratings and popularity.

And, how can you compare yourselves with paid actors (Friends)? It’s a job to follow scripts with constant changes and spend hours rehearsing together w. camera crews that work almost 24 hrs a day! You guys are being taped for your everyday lives.

I was comparing an ensemble cast negotiating for each other for the same…period. I never compared us to them. Does it say MORON on my forehead? JIll

  10. Margaret Selikoff Says:

    Dear Jill~
WOW! You must be SO thrilled for Bethenny! The RHNYC will not be the same without her but what great news! How exciting! Will you be throwing her wedding shower? I can only imagine what you have in store!

Good news to share~what a joyous day! Lobster for your lunch should be a great way to celebrate today!!! Hip Hip Hooray! You must be over the moon with happiness for your Bethenny!

  11. Margaret Selikoff Says:

    Jill~

Seriously~I do not believe everything I read~LOL! I was just asking in regards to the media hype. So, is it true Bethenny has her own Reality Show and is no longer on RHNYC? As an avid viewer with RHNYC being my favorite, I cannot help but wonder! What’s up? Thanks!

  12. Kathleen Says:

Hi, Jill. Huge fan of yours since Season 1 of RHONYC, first time posting. Can you divulge if it’s true Bethenny got her own show and will be leaving RHONYC? I love watching your friendship unfold and hope it’s just a rumor. If it is true, I hope you both will crossover and make appearances on each other’s shows. Hope you and yours are having a great summer!

  13. Patrice Says:

Just read in the NY Post that Bethenney has said farewell to RHNYC and moved on to her own reality show on Bravo. Are you leaving also?

  14. Margaret Selikoff Says:

Why such high demands? You are all successful in your own right as well as having your own products to sell, etc.

  15. Vicki Says:

I hope everyone can work it out, but I did hear Bravo was looking for replacements, and that they were a ” dime a dozen. ” That, there are alot of women anxious to get ” out there and become known . ” And Bravo had them ” lined up, and they were beautiful, educated and rich. ” Jill, have you heard this.? Reportedly, they did NOT need six-figures, and were excited. Please don’t let this happen, if this rumor is true.

  16. Cody R Says:

I agree that all of the original cast should be paid the same. I do, however think that Kelly should be paid less as she is the newest housewife. Do you agree?

    Cody

  17. Julie Halvorsen Says:

You are awesome Jill! I agree with you that an ensemble cast should be treated the same-paid the same, everything. Why is one person more important that another? It just causes animosity among everyone.

  18. tina h Says:

I hope Jill, Bethenny, Alex and Simon, and Ramona are back on the next season. It won’t be the same without them. They all equally make it so entertaining. I can’t wait to see. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

  19. bryan Says:

No one irreplacable, especially with shows like this, be careful!

  20. Sue D in NY Says:

I totally agree with Jill about it being an ensemble and they should be treated identically. I do think that some of the women on the show are more “interesting” than others and with that being said, not one woman is more valuable.

I think women, in particular, sometimes do not have the “sisterhood” mentality or the “we have to be a team” as men are more apt to do. The cattiness can come out, and not at the most opportune times, namely salary negotiations. There is power in numbers, especially now. Kelly did herself a (potential) disservice by not working together with the rest of the ladies in the negotiations. She may have gotten herself a really good deal, but she doesn’t know what kind of deal is being negotiated for the others. Sometimes ignorance ISN’T bliss!

Jill, you’re looking fabulous. I just LOVE your Mom. God bless you and yours.
