Jill's Blog

Thank you for reading my blog. I am really enjoying the interaction with everyone. Though Bobby is not so thrilled I spend 5 hours a night on the laptop in bed. I remember when I used to spend the evenings in my office at my desk. Now my desk is in my bed. Isn’t everyone’s? Ok..here is the story. A few summers ago a friend of mine invited Ally and I to spend a week in the South of France. A mother daughter trip. We were scheduled on a 7PM flight out of JFK. As I was finishing packing at home, Bobby calls and casually says…” I checked your passports this morning before I left and I think Ally’s passport expired”. I said ” WHAT??” And ran to the desk and sure enough..Ally’s expired. I am not a moron. It was only 5 years old. ( She was 10?). I thought passports expire after 10 years. Yes..true for ADULTS…not KIDS! It makes sense…their faces change so much that they expire in 5 years. PANIC. I had peace of mind to grab my wallet, money, ID, Letter from Ally’s Dad, MY PASSPORT and of course Allyson and ran out of the house. First stop..passport office on Canal. No luck. I had no appointment and they could care less that I had a flight that night. Then I ran to get a photo of Ally in case I got lucky. While on the phone crying to Bobby ..he told me to change flight to the next day or 2 was $3000. That was not happening. Ally was crying too. I gave up. I went to the 34th street Post Office to wait in line and apply by mail since there was NO WAY were going anywhere. Remember I got the photo taken?? It was now 3PM and the flight at 7PM. ( oh..it was Friday too in the summer..TRAFFIC!) Bobby called. THE HERO. He tells me not to ask questions but get back to the passport office asap and call DANNY ( names have been changed to protect the guilty). and he will meet me in the lobby. I called Eyola to finish packing..sent my driver to my apt to pick up my luggage and bring it in traffic downtown to passport office. I was escorted upstairs this time. Filled out paperwork . Now it is 4:15PM. Flight 7PM. He told me One Hour. At 5:15 I had it HOT in my hands. Literally off the printer. I ran out..met my driver downstairs..picked up Bobby on Houston and Allen ( down the block from Zarin Fabrics) and straight over the bridge to JFK. We get out and there are hundreds of people. It is 6:15PM. Take off in one hour. Someone recognizes him ( I think he thought he was someone else) and escorts us to the front of the line. ( This is before they closed international flights 90 minutes before). We RUN RUN RUN..we get in our seats by 6:10. No kidding. We started to cry. BOBBY MY HERO. We still have Danny’s number..but it will cost you! Love, jill

    Hey Jill,

This is so crazy, I feel like I’ve known you my whole life.
I gotta tell you, I love your hair! your the best, my husband and
I love you to death. However, you have got to work on your posture. For somebody with your kind of personality, which is very outgoing and confident, you stand like a person that is very insecure. And Ally is picking up this unfortunate habbit. Just have someone give you a tap on the back if they notice you slouching and you’ll be sporting a perfect posture in no time. Luv you girlfriend.

    Hi Jill,

You and Bethenny are the only ones on the show with class! LuAnn and the others should pay attention!

Yours and Bethenny’s candor, humor and generous spirit is so refreshing.

I can only imagine that LuAnn’s unrelenting requests to be addressed as countess is both annoying and humorous. Poor soul wants so much to be looked upon as “royalty.”

Your skin looks fabulous! Care to share what you do and products you use?

As for the lunch LuAann hosted for her daughter and friends….all I can say it’s a shame she had to put the focus on herself and was critical of her daughter in front of her friends. She needs to learn some etiquette…not write about it.

This story is hilarious because it absolutely mirrors my story in which i had to get my dad a passport in a manner of hours… we also had a “Danny” but in Chicago. Thank god for living in one of the few cities with a passport agency and for the “Danny’s” of the world!

LOL Jill the exact SAME thing happened to us this summer on a cruise to Bermuda. I pulled out the passports and about passed out when I saw that our daughter’s had expired. I quickly started calling passport services and long story short, they accepted her birth cert for now…This will change in the future though! We mailed her passport app as soon as we got home.
Danny’s number is worth BIG bucks, Jill lol

Thinking about the 21 day Martha Vineyard Diet….since I was recently laid off, just buying the book will be a reach..what do you think of the diet?? Was it worth it?

Oh, fyi, small typo on your old site, on the home page. It should be “it” vs. “is”.

    Jill,
I think you are awesome!! I have a wonderful passport story to long to go into..but lets just say I was only allowed in to England for 10 days when they got through with me….
You make me laugh , you have CLASS, more class than the countess, more class than Ramona will ever have or even wish she had, I do not like to be mean but she has serious issues…she reminds me of someone that has to be center of attention, she may not like Simon and Alex she is so obsessed with those 2 that it makes her seem jealous, they may not be everyones cup of tea but they are who they are, and poor Ramona looks so cheap and sluty , The Countess is so into “herself” and her title it makes me sick. I believe that anyone can have class, you may have to work on it but you can have it. I was lucky enough and blessed enough to be able to buy what I want, go where I want, and yet you would never know my financial status because I do not flaunt it as the others do. You do it in a way that it does make you look bad,,,,,your a good mommy and I think you really love Bobby, and like you my bed is the center of my world to…….I can not wait to watch more of you. and I like watching Alex and Simon they are entertaining………..

Hi Jill, I have a great passport story to share with you. In 2003 my husband and I decided to take our 3 college age kids to Spain for 2 weeks. Since our kids were all in different states, we all met in NYC the day before we were to depart for Madrid from JFK. That evening we were having an early dinner at a little restaurant on 62nd and Lexington called Mon Petit Cafe. I said to my daughter, “you did bring your passport” and she replied “OMG, I forgot it”. I jumped up in the middle of dinner and said, WHAT!!!!!!. My husband said, lets call Jonah, (who was her BF at the time)and have him get her passport and Fedex it to us. We had time because of the time difference, she went to school in Arizona. We had to Fax a singned letter to the office of her apartment complex so they would let Jonah in to get her passport, which we did from the restaurant. They were kind enough to let us use their Fax machine. Long story short, Jonah got the passport to Fedex at the last minute and we received it the next morning by 10 AM. Vacation saved! BTW, you are my favorite on the show by far.

  9. Daisy Says:

What a story! Hurray for Bobby! Can I borrow him on my next international trip? Last year I was in Frankfort, after visiting my daughter there and was trying to fly back home to the states. At the airport they couldn’t find my name in the system! I showed them the confirmation I had and my passport showing they let me into Germany just 3 weeks prior. Seems “someone” had entered my name backwards for the return ticket home. (blush)

Can’t wait to see the new season starting Feb 7th.

Wow, great story! And another “WOW!” after looking at your pictures - you look fantastic! I’ve been out of touch lately with the goings on of the Real Housewive of NYC but wanted to reach out to you to let you know how much I appreciate your perspective. Watching you and your interactions with your friends and family is a true illustration of how most of us are more alike than we are different. Can’t wait for the new season. Cheers, Megan P.

Wow…that sure is some good fortune, thanks for telling that for a minor it expires in five I didn’t know that. I guess this really shows that it is good to surround yourself people and have many many connections because you never know when you may need a favor. Can’t wait for your next post so just keep on that laptop and send Bobby an IM.
