July Weekend Update!

Friday night we went to a friends birthday dinner followed by a “drive by” at Pink Elephant. We met lots of cute girls for Bobby’s son and his friends, danced, and then departed. Saturday, Bobby and I went to opening day of Polo in Bridgehampton and I took Sarah Erhrlich with me to hand out invitations for our 2nd Annual Help for Orphans Benefit this Friday, July 25, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Nova’s Ark. (To buy tickets go to hamptonsbenefit.com. Prices are $150 in advance and $200 at the door). There will be cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and a wonderful Art Auction and Silent Auction. We are raising money to build a vocational school in Kenya for a village that Sarah has been helping for two years. Last year we raised enough money to build a 10-room schoolhouse that will break ground this August.
Saturday night, Bobby and I went to Russell Simmons’ charity event, Art for Life. The decor was outstanding with people dressed as trees and plants and the dress code was purple. Thank goodness I had something in my closet. I try to respect dress codes when people go to the effort to design the decor around it. The highlight for me was sitting in the Maybach that was on display. I love that car!! So, who was there? We met Governor Paterson (New York’s new Governor!) and I was so impressed. He was funny, warm, and approachable, not your typical politician with the standard one-liners and classic lines you would expect. He shared stories with us and would have told more but they pulled him away to sit down for the start of the program. I met Gayle King, saw P. Diddy and his mom who is always charming, Al Roker, and Aretha Franklin (we waited until the program ended hoping she would surprise the audience and sing but no such luck). My friend Marilyn Crawford was there too so we had a chance to catch up.
Though we had a few offers for more parties on the beach Sunday, we chose to BBQ at home with the family and do the midnight run back to the city.

Hey Jill! You may not remember me, but I’m the guy from PA who, aside from being a devoted fan of the show, shared my miracle with you about the female duck that lives behind our house. I just wanted to let you know that I am so completely psyched that all of you signed up for Season 2. I can’t wait!! In my opinion, the show is by far some of the most entertaining television out there right now and it’s fascinating getting to know all of you.
Once my life calms down in December (I’ll be finally finishing my MBA at Villanova after 6 years), I definitely would love to attend one of your charity events in the Hamptons sometime next spring or summer, primarily so that I could meet you and Bobby in person (although I would love to meet Ally as well, she seems like an incredibly mature and grounded individual for such a young age).
I hope you and your family are enjoying your summer and I look forward to seeing you on Season 2! Please tell Bethany, in particular, that she also has a huge fan in PA – I nearly died laughing watching the dinner party episode. “Oh no you dintint” should become part of the American lexicon. Love you guys,
-Walter

I just love The Jill!!!!
Seriously, Jill. Are you just having the time of your life right now?? I know you and Bobby probably work very hard, but you guys seem to have it just about right–fun, family, friends, and the motivation to help others.
And it’s totally unlike me to point stuff like this out, but I just adore your hair. It’s the perfect color and cut.

My husband and I took a much needed long weekend and went to the Help the Orphans benefit. It was a pleasure meeting you. I was so nervous! But the nicest thing was when you introduced us to Simon. I was very astounded at how gracious he actually is. He took the time to have a nice conversation with us. I know we really didn’t “belong” there, and it was so great to see that he was content just hangin with us for awhile. He was truly a gentleman. The event was very nice and at least I can say that I did that just once in my lifetime!! My husband and I had a great time! Thanx again!

Hi Jill! Have you watched the Real Housewives of Atlanta? If so, your thoughts? I felt like I was watching an episode of MTV cribs to be honest. Love your style and hope to see you back for Season 2 of Real NYC:)
